Women Worth Watching | Holly, Hollyberry Soaps

October 1, 2018

If you love handmade, fresh products made with love well then you will enjoy my Fall edition of Women Worth Watching featuring; Holly of Hollyberry Soaps.

1)What is your business name & how did you come up with it?

Hollyberry Soaps. My first name is Holly and my nickname was/is Hollyberry, so naturally it seemed like a great fit for a soap company that uses fresh produce like berries.

2) What year did you start your business?

I have been dabbling with soap since I was a little girl and my Grandma used to make it, so I guess you could say a long time! I started with attending markets then met a man that helped me peruse my dream of opening up our first retail location in 2016.

3) What was your dream job growing up?

To own my own business doing something that I loved, and I can say that I have successfully achieved my dream job!

4) What lead you to your job today / what is your “why”?

Healthy choices have always been an important part of our everyday life and being stewards of the land. Having grown up on a farm, I realized at an early age the importance of taking care of the earth while using environmentally friendly products.

5) What characteristic(s) do you think set you apart from other people in your industry?

We are a genuinely natural company that is transparent about the ingredients that we use in our products. We package all of our natural products in environmentally friendly containers such as glass, paper or aluminum and maintain a recycling program that is unique to our business.

6) How do you define success?

I think when you open your eyes in the morning and have gratitude in your heart and a smile on your face you have achieve the ultimate success.

7) Who inspires you most?

Entrepreneurs.  Every single one of them.

8) What advice would you give yourself when you were first starting out?

It’s not going to be easy, but it is going to be worth it.

9) What is your favourite motivational quote?

Dwell in possibility – Emily Dickinson

10) How do you attain a work / life balance?

That’s a tough one! When you are passionate about something you want to work at it 24/7. We try to have work hours that we maintain, but it’s hard when you are happily creating things you love with people you love!

10) Where do you see your business in 5 years?

Creating the same authentic genuine product that is quality over quantity.

11) What are 3 super random facts about you?

1. I love potatoes. And could eat them at every meal in every form.

2. I’m the middle child of two brothers. I don’t think I ever really had middle child syndrome because I was the girl and they always seemed to really take care of me and maybe even like me.

3. I love goats! My parents were gracious enough to let me house them when I was living at home. I had 5 altogether in my life. Shanta, Cocoa, Izzy, Tommy and Jemima.  Jemima having had the weirdest life, living with the chickens and eventually thinking that maybe she was a chicken? The other goats had more normal lives.
