Kate & Joe | Banff Wedding

April 2, 2019

“We met in the fall of 2009 while both living in Witherspoon Hall on UNCC’s campus. Joe was a Resident Advisor in the building, and I was living in a suite with several friends. Joe would conduct his rounds, and occasionally stop by our room for board game nights. One night, around Halloween, Joe dropped a pumpkin off at our dorm for us. He later took the pumpkin away, turned it into a pumpkin pie, and returned it to our dorm. Joe was also president of our bass fishing team in college, and regularly invited me to team meetings as he knew that I loved to fish!

We stayed friends all through college, and in October of 2013, 1 year after I graduated, I reached out to Joe to ask for his pumpkin pie recipe. We began texting, and I mentioned to him that I hadn’t been fishing recently. He suggested I drive up to Ohio for the weekend and go fishing with him. I thought he was crazy! I should have probably realized at some point along that drive, that he most likely thought I was crazy as well for driving 6.5 hours to go fishing…

I arrived in Ohio at midnight, and Joe and I stayed up until 3:30am talking. The following morning when we woke up, it was 35 degrees outside and pouring rain. Joe asked if I still had any interest in going fishing. I politely explained that I did not drive 6.5 hours to not go fishing. If you ask Joe, he will tell me that he gave me full disclosure, prior to my trip, that he only had a canoe in Ohio. I do not recall this.

We loaded up the canoe and went fishing on Alum Creek, which is not exactly known as one of the best bass fishing locations in the US. I zeroed and Joe caught a catfish. To this day, it is still one of the best fishing trips I have ever had, and by far the best first date I could have ever imagined!” -Kate

I cannot thank Joe & Kate enough for having me document their day. It still gives me goosebumps looking through the photos! 2019 is off to an amazing start & I am happy to say I am fully booked for weekend weddings this year!
